Holy crap, will it be a big [music] deal? Bye-bye steroids for pretty much everybody. The first myostatin inhibitor drug, it can unleash pro bodybuilder level muscle growth in all skeletal muscles in your body without training. >> But there are two massive caveats [music] behind this. >> You have to go to the hospital, you can't just get it on the gray market. It costs like a trillion dollars a year. So, does that mean that myostatin inhibitors are a dead end cuz all of them have to be like that? Guys, the FDA just approved for general prescription to the public the first myostatin inhibitor drug and you would think this would make us radically excited. >> But there are two massive massive caveats behind this. >> And we need you guys not to fall for the hype. First, what are myostatin inhibitor drugs? Check this out. In all of your skeletal muscles, growth wants to go go go by default. >> [sighs] >> Skeletal muscle cells just want to get more jacked. Normally, they don't have to be coaxed to do it. >> [gasps] >> Myostatin is a protein [clears throat] that reduces muscle growth to save your metabolism for other important stuff because we more or less evolved in times of intermittent starvation. And if you uncork muscle growth to just go all the time, you're going to end up jacked and lean and probably dead because your liver, kidneys, heart, and brain did not get enough food. Myostatin inhibitors take this blocking action of myostatin and they reduce the production or expression of it. Thus, they uncork muscle growth pretty much to maximum. Now, if that sounds promising, it's because it is. The promise of myostatin is that it is crazy powerful. Switched completely off, it can unleash pro bodybuilder level muscle growth in all skeletal muscles in your body without training. Now, what is the evidence of this? It's not just theory. Here's a picture of a mouse that has myostatin blocked compared to a regular mouse. Here's a picture of a greyhound with no functional myostatin gene. Look at how scared he looks, you guys, but he's jacked. We have myostatin negative cows, which just kind of don't look like cows anymore, and we even have human babies that were documented being born one out of a billion lucky bastards with no functioning myostatin, and even in babyhood, they have jacked legs. If we have drugs that can potentially turn dial myostatin up and down, they can turn dial muscle growth up and down, and by that, I mean up, of course. >> [gasps] >> And they can do so with almost no side effects since it's only your skeletal muscle that's growing. And as a matter of fact, the research trials on the myostatin inhibitors we have in testing so far show health improvements rather than detriments. This kind of means almost anyone, hypothetically, could have basically good genetics for overall muscle growth even if they don't have good genetics. This can mean that we can have a radical reduction in sarcopenia, age-related muscle loss, for old folks, which is huge because it's going to boost their metabolisms massively, boost their health massively, reduce inflammation like crazy, radically improve their strength and mobility, and make people way more independent after bouts of disease, and of course, the worst disease of all, aging. Now, of course, not the best benefit of myostatin blockers, but the one that interests us like crazy, is that if you can have true myostatin blockers that can turn down muscle, you can turn down muscle growth up to prevent basically all muscle loss on a fat loss diet. Especially if paired with modern weight loss drugs like tirzepatide, this is an enormous, enormous thing. If you're doing a maintenance phase or a bulking phase, myostatin inhibitors, myostatin blockers, can radically multiply the effectiveness of your weight training routine, provided you're taking in enough protein, which is a lot cuz these things grow muscle fast, and getting enough calories. The really cool thing hypothetically about this is that you specialize massively on the muscles you want to bring up. You basically do one set per week on muscles you don't care much about. All the muscles grow anyway, but the specialized muscles grow way, way faster, and thus you turn your physique into almost exactly what you would want to see muscle by muscle. This would be next-level sculpting. All right. So, the drug that was just released to the public, with prescription of course, is called an easy-to-pronounce apitegromab. It's a monoclonal antibody, which inhibits myostatin, and radically elevates muscle growth. This new drug was made by Scholar Rock, the company, which is a sweet name for a company that has tons of other awesome drugs in the pipeline, and it's now FDA-approved. Now, what cool shit did it do in trials? It preserved, with a very low dose, 4 lb more muscle from being lost when folks were put on a lot of really powerful weight loss drugs over the course of 24 weeks than the alternative. The tirzepatide alone group lost about 7.6 lb of lean mass. Now, tirzepatide combined with bimagrumab lost only 3.4 lb of muscle as a group over 24 weeks of dieting. That's a 55% reduction in otherwise lost lean mass. And here's the trick, nobody lifted weights, just the drug alone. And you would think, okay, what's the catch? But it didn't interfere with fat loss. In fact, people on bimagrumab plus tirzepatide lost about a pound more fat than just tirzepatide alone. Because turns out muscle growth costs even more extra calories. The lean tissue retention wasn't brought on by making the whole body worse at losing fat. In fact, it made it better. This is such a huge deal. And because these were super low doses, potentially in a higher dose, you could lose zero muscle. And by the way, these folks were dieting really crazy fast. If you dieted it slower, took more bimagrumab, you could hypothetically gain muscle and lose fat at the same time. That is massive. And in people with severe muscle disease, bimagrumab improved both the amount of muscle and physical function. This is not muscle that doesn't work. It's real functional muscle that you put on. This is absolutely the real deal. And now it's approved and out. But there are two reasons not to get ahead of yourselves. I have to tell myself this cuz I want to get ahead of myself. And guys, this is where the rubber meets the road. And you're going to see lots of videos and lots of reviews about how this is a big deal. It's not a big deal yet, and here's why. Reason number one why this ain't it is the only way to get this drug currently. Because it's a biologic. Is in-hospital infusion. That means you have to go to the hospital, sit down in a chair, get an IV drip hooked up, and sit there for a while getting that drug infused to you every several weeks or every several months. Now, it works really well for weeks and months after that, but you have to come back to the hospital to keep getting the treatment. Now, look. I can buy gray market peptides like anybody else, but I don't exactly know how to fake a script to go get an in-hospital infusion. Scott, can you imagine that? They're like, "So, looks like you have spinal muscular dystrophy." They're like, "Uh-huh." They look at your spinal erectors and they're like, "Okay." And your doctor said you need 10 times the approved dose of apitagramab every two weeks instead of two months. You're like, "My back. It's hard for me to to talk must my back hurts." They're like, "Sir, don't you worry about a thing." That That's the thing, guys. It's not a tenable thing. You have to go to the hospital. You can't just get it on the gray market. You can't even get it at a pharmacy. You can't get it falling off the back of a truck cuz your friend decided he didn't have spinal muscular dystrophy anymore. You're just probably not going to get any of this drug. Now, if you had connections and your own hospital bed at home with a infusion device, I don't know. You would get screwed by reason number two. This drug for now, for the bodybuilding community and fitness community is only hype and not practical. Here's reason number two. It costs like a trillion dollars a year. I'm kidding, but at its current price, it's estimated to cost something like $350,000 a year to administrate. This isn't therapeutic doses, by the way, not IFBB pro doses. Holy crap. I don't know about you guys, I'm pretty breaded up. I ain't spending 350k a year on a drug that grows as much muscles as anabolic steroids. Anabolic steroids can give me a bad mood and save me hundreds of thousands of dollars at the same time. Now, not to get too depressing cuz this price will rapidly decline. But, in a year, maybe it'll cost tens of thousands instead of hundreds. And in two or three years, it'll cost the normal amount for drugs that kind of everyone can afford. But, at no point soon will it be cheap enough to actually use for recreation or health-based muscle growth. That's just not on the horizon. Combined with the fact that you have to get it infused in the hospital, which means first of all, you're not going to do that, and second of all, there's no way to fake do that, this just is not a drug that the fitness community might ever be using. So, does that mean that myostatin inhibitors are a dead end cuz all of them have to be like that? Not quite. What we really want is either an at-home injectable, like a bimagrumab. You have it in a vial, you reconstitute it, inject it twice a week, something like that. Or, the golden fleece, an oral [clears throat] small molecule, which basically means you could put the stuff in a pill. They are working on all of these. When those come out, and they haven't yet, holy crap, will it be a big deal. Bye-bye steroids for pretty much everybody. Ladies will start to get real jacked when they feel like it and have zero androgenic effects, no having to shave the face or hide the deep voice or any of that stuff. People in the public are going to get on it like they're on Ozempic and tirzepatide. There's going to be a massive boost to public health because now people can lose weight on drugs, ton of it, but they can't keep their muscle on. This will help them. Now, interestingly enough, these drugs may hurt overall gym attendance because a lot of people just go to the gym to have some kind of muscle that they can be functional. But, these drugs, I think, are going to massively boost hardcore gym culture. Scott, how many people want to train to look awesome in their physique that they just don't have the genetics to do it, so they just give up. >> Lots. >> A ton. And when everyone has good genetics, hardcore gyms are going to fill to the brim. Multiple companies are working on such drugs right now. In the next probably 3 to 5 years, they're going to be released, competitively priced, they're going to saturate the market. You'll even be able to get some gray market ones from China if you like playing the lottery, and shit will hit the fan. But until then, we wait very patiently. And here at RP, we'll let you know exactly when those drugs are in the pipeline and ready to come out or out in the market already, so you can go, just absolutely riddle yourself with needle marks, have muscles coming out of your face and your eyes, and all will be well. Until then, see you guys at the hospital cuz >> [laughter] >> you like my spinal musculature just doesn't feel right. >> [music] [music]
